This project involved choosing an album from the year we were born. The goal was to listen to the album and create a series of designs that the designer could reasonably picture the artist using for the album/promotional material within their discography. I chose “You Forgot It In People” by Broken Social Scene. (2002)
My research process involved listening to the album and looking at their other albums artwork. On top of this, I browsed images while listening to the album to see if any of the images resonated with me. Doing this, I created a moldboard that vaguely helped me visualize some of the sounds, however I think I took a drastic step away from this mood board as I continued.
My sketching process was not completed for this assignment.
The editing process involved a lot of revisions within the drawing. Because everything was drawn by me, many little mistakes were made and many changes from color to detail needed to be adjusted throughout the design of the album, poster and Instagram post.
The final projects are all things I am really proud of having designed. They feel cohesive and feel like they have character. This is the first time I’ve really drawn this much on a project, so I’m happy to have stepped out of my comfort zone and try something different.
